Why should I make a Final Farewell?

You may feel you are at a point in your life, at an age now, where each day is a blessing and equally each day could be your last. You may have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness or may have been given adiagnosis of a terminal illness. You may have been told that you now have an illness that you know is going to make you as a person change, and you know you cannot help some of your future behaviours, words, or actions. This is your chance to use the right words while you still have the capacity to do so.

You may struggle every day that you are in a job where you know you potentially may not come home at the end of the day and you do not have your affairs in order. Or you may simply be at a crossroad in your life and feel you just want to leave a message. There may be a message that you give to a loved one on a regular basis that you want to continue.

We all struggle with the thought of our own mortality. And this can be the hardest subject to approach even with the ones we love the most. But ultimately, we all know that one day we will no longer be here.

Ultimately, you can make your Final Farewell and have the knowledge that you have your affairs in order should the worse unexpectedly happen.

How do I make a Final Farewell?

There are currently two ways to make a Final Farewell. Firstly, you can either record your own video on your device/computer/phone and then upload it on to our Final Farewells website; or secondly, you can invite us to your home for a private, bespoke, personal service where we will professionally film your Final Farewell. Please call for further details.

Due to the current Covid 19 pandemic Final Farewells are currently unable to offer our bespoke, personal service.

What do I say in my Final Farewell?

You can say anything! It could be a message of love it could be a message of regret; it could be a message about memories or your hopes and dreams for your loved ones.

Your Final Farewell could be your chance to explain decisions and choices that you have made in your life. Or decisions and choices you have made about the end of your life. It will give you the opportunity to just talk to loved ones with no pressure or judgement.

If you have recently been diagnosed with a life changing illness such as Alzheimer’s disease, MND or Parkinson’s Disease; your words may give your loves ones a message of strength, thanks and love as you know the people closest to you have seen you change dramatically into somebody you are not.

Another aspect to consider is talking practically about insurance(s), financial commitments, passwords, and bank/credit arrangements. These are again things we find hard talking to loved ones about.

Can I make more than one message with Final Farewells?

Absolutely! You may want to leave a message to your spouse, to your individual children, nieces, nephews, siblings, parents… it is entirely up to you. On the other hand, you may feel that you want to send one generic message to all your loved ones. This is personal to you and we will do our absolute best to cater for your wishes and needs.

If I choose to make multiple Final Farewells will I be charged full price for each message?

No! When you have uploaded more than one Final Farewell video and written specific wishes for the them and then chosen any added extras; when arriving at the check out please use voucher code FF20 to receive a 20% from the price of the full transaction (including any added extras).

How will Final Farewells know I have passed away?

When you have successfully uploaded your Final Farewell message, we will then prepare the message to be sent out and store safely until it is requested upon you passing. We will then send you two Final Farewells validation cards. This is similar to an old-style donor card. The card is business card/ credit card size and can easily be stored in your purse/wallet. Alternatively, if you do not want to store it in a wallet or purse, we would recommend storing it somewhere it would be found after your passing. When we are notified by your loved one(s) of your passing, we will only send out your Final Farewell when we have seen proof of your death certificate and also looked at your specific wishes.

Who will see my Final Farewell message?

Final Farewells maintains absolute confidentiality. We will not watch your full message, but we will perform a random spot check; this means that we will check that the video is clear, while muted; we will then at intermittent points check we can hear your words, please bear in mind this will be random and contextually mean nothing to us, we just want to make sure your message is both audible and visually clear for your loved ones.We will also not speak to anybody about any of our uploaded messages.

They will be stored on an external device (USB Stick)ready to be sent out on your passing in a presentation box.

These are your Final Farewells; these are your wishes, and they will be upheld. When you make your Final Farewells, you will be given the opportunity to decide who it is sent to and when. You may decide that you want the message to be sent on our notification of your passing or you may want it sent on a specific date, e.g., one could be sent immediately and another to be sent one year after the date of your passing… it is up to you!

What happens if I lose my Final Farewell validation card?

Initially we will send out two cards as we feel these are vital for your family to be able to have the knowledge that you have made a Final Farewell. However, if you feel you need another as you have lost yours please let us know ASAP and we will replace them at a small administration fee.

How long will my Final Farewell be stored?

As long as you need it to be! Unless you agree to occasionally receiving marketing emails from us, we will not contact you apart from sending you the validation card. We will hold on to your personal Final Farewell and respect your wishes until the point that we are contacted with the sad news that you are no longer with us.

Can my Final Farewell be my final will and testament?

No. A video message would not be seen as a legally binding will, so therefore, we would encourage you to make a Final Farewells message to your loved one(s) if you feel that you need to explain some aspects of your will. This would be just one part of your Final Farewells message.

Final Farewells would encourage all of our customers to find and review a reputable company and then create your final will and testament to make things during this hard period, easier for your loved ones.

Once I have made my Final Farewell, can I change my mind?

Yes. You can call or email us and we’ll call you back and you can let us know if you need to change any of your instructions or if you want to cancel you Final Farewell altogether. This can all be done once you have answered the security questions.

Unfortunately, you cannot alter/edit the Final Farewell as this would have already been storedin preparation to be sent to your chosen beneficiary.
